Anti-Bullying DVD, Launch Event
Partners
Office for Disability Issues with a charity that supports adults with learning disabilities to self-advocate on issues that matter to them.
Project details
The DVD launch event, which was sponsored by Office for Disability Issues was the biggest the charity has ever put on. Jonathan Shaw, Minister for Disabled People spoke, and the charity also got its first story into a local newspaper.
A group at the charity had developed an anti-bullying DVD and wanted to showcase it at a launch event. Over a three month period, senior managers at Office for Disability Issues attended weekly support sessions to assist the group to design and run their own event. Volunteers created a rota and took turns to attend meetings.
In recognition for the cross-sectorial collaboration and community needs led nature of this project, in January 2010 the ODI and the charity involved in this project received a Commendation for Innovation.
