Volunteers and Child Protection
vcw user (17/03/2011 13:56)
I am in contact with a project that is set up by young people (up to 25) for young people, and exists without funding being run young people volunteering as organisers. As the group has expanded massively there is a need for some formal awareness around child protection as the lead volunteer has become aware of issues that are coming up from young people attending. Does anyone know of any support they might be able to access, and if there are any other projects that have developed policies around this from a young person perspective, and inline with cross london procedues?

Try the Central V team - while they still exist!
Or the Young Muslim Helpline, run mainly by young volunteers.

The young muslim helpline sounds like a good place to contact
I met with two people from the v team, and they helped as far as was possible, but the last i heard from one of them, they're now no longer about :(

Oh, also try IARS - can't remember what it stands for, based in Waterloo Road, yoof led for young people.
Interesting to see how these youth led groups develop once their founders no longer qualify as 'young.'
