Young Carers Volunteer Coordinator

Shiereen joined the Centre in 2010 as part of the Best Practice Team and now supports Young Carers in finding tailored and suitable volunteering roles and monitors their progress and development throughout their volunteering experience.
Shiereen obtained her degree in Political Science from the University of Amsterdam. She has worked many years in the Netherlands in the field of Diversity and Social Participation as project manager, trainer, facilitator and coach. In 2010 she moved to the UK and started off her career here by walking into Volunteer Centre Westminster and volunteering on one of the Centre’s projects.

Shiereen’s thoughts on volunteering:
‘I don’t believe there is such a thing as altruism in volunteering. In the end you receive a heap of new experiences and that great feeling of reward by sharing a part of yourself.’
