Press Working Group
Help to tell good news stories

Time & Talents for Westminster, part of Volunteer Centre Westminster, has realised over the years that many local charities want support to get messages and news into the public domain. What could be a simple task of getting an event or story into local press, can be difficult due to capacity or not having a media officer on hand; which are common scenarios for small charities.
Time & Talents is a three sector partnership of private, public and voluntary sector organisations, facilitating employer supported volunteering projects. Many great projects have been developed through Time & Talents and yet there has been little public awareness about the work partners are doing, which would aid the objectives of the charities and employers involved, and the objectives of the Time & Talents partnership as a whole.
We therefore set up the Press Working Group in 2009.
Purpose

Bringing together key representatives from different sectors to think through ideas around increasing media coverage of voluntary sector work and local issues.
The group provides a space to discuss:
- What are the key reasons for getting publicity for voluntary sector messages?
- What local support could be made available?
- How can we work together to increase media profile?
