Volunteering for older people

Older people volunteeringAre you an older person but not sure whether volunteering is for you? Registration statistics at our Centre say that the majority of people who sign up to become a volunteer are aged between 20 & 40. We would like to change that because we know that people over 40 have so much to offer, with years of experience and wisdom at their finger-tips.

In fact, volunteering is a great way to keep active, meet people, use your skills and experience, and make a really positive contribution to society.

There is no upper age limit. As long as you feel motivated and able to do whatever tasks you take on, there is no reason why you can’t keep volunteering as long as you want to.

There are lots of ways to volunteer…

There are hundreds of different things you can do ranging from informal  volunteering such as shopping for your neighbour to more formal, regular volunteering, perhaps for for a big national charity…and everything in between.

Information events: volunteering for older people

In partnership with Voluntary Action Westminster and the Westminster Local Involvement Network we are running two short information events for you to find out more about volunteering, why it can be so rewarding, and how older people can get involved. You can also get to hear from older people who are already volunteering. Everyone is welcome to come along, and tea, coffee and snacks will be provided. Download the flyer here!
