Local Area - Westminster Community Statistics

There are six Local Area Renewal Partnerships in Westminster – the hotspots where there are complex social issues and the most need. Some neighbourhood wards are in the top 3 – 10% most deprived areas in the country. Overall Westminster is in the bottom 40 most deprived out of England’s 354 districts.   map

Queen’s Park
  • Nearly one in three children are in workless households, and one in ten children are known to social services.
  • 8% of working age residents are claiming sickness benefits.
  • Over 13% of people are in economic poverty as evidenced by Pension Credit Claimants.
   Social  Digital Exclusion
Church Street
  • One in six residents claims Incapacity Benefit, the highest in Westminster.
  • A woman can expect to die 12 years earlier than in Knightsbridge and Belgravia.
