Recruitment Procedure:
The charity require potential volunteers to complete a Volunteer Form. The Centre will invite candidates in for an informal interview, giving both parties the chance to ask questions and decide whether or not the partnership is right. We will need to obtain two references before you can start and these can come from any person you have an official relationship with, for example, previous or current employee, social worker, probation officer, religious minister, tutors or Key Worker to name a few. A criminal records check form is completed for all roles on their first day (see below).
Criminal Records Checks:
All roles at The Centre are exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and all convictions, spent or not, must be declared. Any criminal record disclosed to us will be considered on its merits and disclosure does not necessarily exclude someone from volunteering. Once volunteers have started, they complete a disclosure application form which is sent to the Criminal Records Bureau. This policy exists to ensure the well being of all staff, clients and volunteers. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Volunteer Coordinator on 020 7222 1602.
Expenses:
Volunteers are reimbursed for reasonable ‘out of pocket’ expenses such as travel, and lunch, if working across the lunchtime period.
Training:
Volunteers will receive the Centre-wide induction with the Volunteer Coordinator plus an induction with their manager into their role and the service they’ll be working in. Training relevant to their role will be available.
