dos and dontsDevelop a Social media strategy with a voluntary group

If you have experience in using/implementing social media on an organisational level you can work with a charity to co create a plan and set of guidelines which work for their needs.

Many charities and groups such a sports clubs and local campaign groups are very keen to utilise social media and engage with online communities but need a little support with how to go about it.

Charities want to get the most out of digital spaces and social networks, but want to make they invest their cleverly.

Volunteers can help charities to:
  • Increase their understanding and use social media tools
  • Identify their audiences and find them online
  • Set achievable goals to engage their supporters
Helping them explore the key questions when embarking on this new media:
  • Social networks are often about creating a dialogue rather than just another channel through which to push out your information out into the world wide web.
  • Do you have the time to create a 'relationship' with those you engaging with through social networks ... commenting, answering questions, entering into discussions on posts?
Involvement:
  • Initial Meeting with charity to frame (1 hr)
  • Write a report with strategy & recommendations (2hrs)
  • Optional hands on support with implementation (1hr week)
