Peer mentorPeer-mentoring

Building cross sector learning relationships that enhance leadership both sides

During the current period of change and transition, it is incredibly important to stay connected with the wider world and challenge ways of doing things. Through peer mentoring leaders from different sectors can strategise and share perspectives from new angles. These relationships develop innovative leadership for both sides, while being manageable and a very effective use of time. Traditional views of volunteering have been about helping those in need; the concept of peer mentoring allows for a more sophisticated understanding of the reciprocity of mutually beneficial relationships.

Logo DiagramTime and Talents for Westminster match peer mentor pairs, matches are based on a wide range of factors including their skills & what they wish to develop, their interests and motivations, from a spectrum of organisations and plot progress during their regular meetings over several months. Pairs will cover a range of issues such as organisational capacity; personal leadership skills; change management decisions, delegation; cost efficiency; etc. Tools shared will included peer mentoring guidelines and information on setting goals at the start.

One of our peer mentoring matches features in the recently published ACEVO guide to cross sector learning relationships.

We are looking for more charities based in Westminster seeking peer mentors and also volunteers from our employer partners interested in this work, the peer mentoring opportunity page will give you more information on how it works if you have any questions please contact us for more information.
