With Christmas just around the corner, this is the last vMail of 2010 and before you hear those sleigh bells ring-a-ling, ding ding a-ding a-ling, please have a look at the volunteering opportunities below that you can get involved with over Christmas and into 2011. Mike Winn and the rest of vInvolved Central London have got such a variety of opportunities for you, from Sexual Health Peer Mentoring to Volleyball Coaching. We even have some Christmas themed opportunities!

OPPORTUNITIES

Go Cardz Appeal @ Whizz-Kidz and Blue Peter
They desperately needs your help! The Appeal hopes to raise £80,000 which will fund 100 assessment clinics to help 400 disabled children across the UK. The target seems a long way off. Tesco has offered us the opportunity to go into stores and make this Appeal the success is needs to be for Whizz-Kidz! Can you help us and sell the cards to Tesco shoppers? We challenge every volunteer to sell 1 box (100 packs) of cards in your local Tesco store. Work on your sales skills and who knows, become the next ‘Apprentice’?! We desperately need volunteers to spare a full or half day within the next 1-2 weeks to help sell cards in your nearest participating Tesco store. Encourage shoppers to part with £1.20 for two magical handmade cards and know that every penny will go towards helping 400 children! You will be provided with a full briefing pack including ‘Top Tips’, a Whizz-Kidz t-shirt to make you as visible as possible and should you become the Go Cardz Top Seller then you can win a special prize from Whizz-Kidz! Volleyball Coaching @ Volleyball England
Volleyball England’s new Volley Squad initiative offers you a fantastic opportunity to train as a volleyball coach or official or support a club! No volleyball knowledge is needed! Volley Squads are a club based group of young volunteers (aged 16 to 25) from both within and outside the volleyball community and they will receive training and support to enable them to help their club. Travel expenses will be reimbursed, hotel accommodation provided if necessary and free kit given so the only thing you need to contribute is some of your time and skills! Enjoy Decorating, wrapping pressies and events planning? @ Kids Company
Then Kid’s Company want to hear from you! We provide practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children. Every year we hold a very special Christmas event for local children and their families, and none of this would be possible without the amazing work of our volunteers. We desperately need your help to help transform our venue into a sparkling wonderland, or take part in our Big Boxing Day clear up! When? Lead up to Christmas and Boxing Day. Where? Southwark. EVOLVE

eVolve Logo Black BackgroundWho are eVolve?
Our Youth Action Team, called eVolve, are a group of young people who help us promote volunteering to their peers. eVolve support vInvolved Central London by giving us feedback about our projects, allowing us to deliver a more youth-led programme.

Volunteering Film: The Editing Stage
We spent a day editing the film we made about youth volunteering - this included adding music, graphics and a voiceover. The film will soon be available to see on our website. WATCH THIS SPACE!!

Keyfund: Ice-Skating and a Winter Feast
After organising an Ice-Skating activity, eVolve then had to put the proposal to the Keyfund panel to get the funding for it. They made a fantastic presentation, and got the go-ahead from the panel. On the 6th December, we went to Canary Wharf Ice-Skating Rink, followed by an International Feast in our own private winter-themed dining hall.

Thank you for reading December's vMail. See you again in 2011!
