Advantages of Volunteering Reception - Westminster City Hall, 7 October
Volunteer Centre Westminster, in partnership with The Lord Mayor of Westminster, Cllr Judith Warner, hosted a reception in the Mayors Parlour at Westminster City Hall on 7 October, focusing on ''The Advantages of Volunteering'.
Event focus
Attended by about one hundred guests, the event ocused on the benefits that volunteering can bring to individuals, including the development of new skills and experiences which can help volunteers move onwards in their life journey. Past and present volunteers spoke of their experiences and explained how volunteering has helped them both personally and professionally, about the benefits their volunteering has brought to the organisations they have worked for and the positive impact their volunteering has had on the community in general.
Short talks
Other talks were given by employment professionals from Job Centre Plus, Westminster Works and the HR Manager of SThree, international recruitment company, about how volunteering is important to employers and can enhance individuals’ employability. Attendees had the opportunity to find out more about how to find suitable volunteering roles and be supported in doing this.
Networking & drinks!
Between talks guests enjoyed networking, refreshments and drinks.
