Message and introduction from the CEO

Welcome to the second edition of the VCW e Newsletter which contains various articles about the Centre and its activities as well as other local volunteering initiatives. The aim is to provide a cross-section of the range of volunteering services we deliver to inform the public, volunteers, volunteer involving organisations, employer partners and stakeholders. Please feel free to forward this e mail to anyone you think it might be of interest to.

Our core functions are to help and support members of the public who wish to volunteer and to support local  organisations that need any support recruiting or managing their volunteers. If you fit into either category, please do not hesitate to get in contact.

We are very pleased to announce two new replacement staff appointments; Yuriy Tarzhumanov and Shiereen Saib (maternity cover) will be jointly leading on our organisational development and volunteering good practice work – they have written an article which expands on this role and its importance.

There are also articles on our Spring to Summer Volunteer Fair, held at the Stowe Centre on Harrow Road on 21^st July, attended by The Lord Mayor of Westminster, Cllr Judith Warner, and the visit to VCW by the Leader of Westminster City Council, Cllr Colin Barrow, on 27^th July as well as other material which you can dip in an out of by clicking on the respective links.

I would draw your particular attention to a new Westminster Volunteer Awards Scheme that we have just launched and to the Westminster Voluntary Sector Funding Review which is now in its consultation phase.
