Westminster Councillors visit VCW 

Councillor Colin Barrow CBE, leader of Westminster City Council, visited Volunteer Centre Westminster on 27^th July to find out first-hand about the work of the Centre. He met with staff and volunteers to hear about their activities as well as taking part in more formal discussions with Gareth Owen, Chief Executive and Sarah Straight, Chair of Trustees.

Following this visit, on 2 August, the volunteer centre also hosted a visit by Cllr Steve Summers, cabinet member for community services, and Cllr Gwyneth Hampton. 

The Council is currently reviewing of ways to harness the power of people in the community through voluntary work and through new ways of delivering services to bring communities together.

Despite financial resources being limited in the current environment, these visits demonstrated that volunteering is still high on the agenda and that the Council is keen to continue working in partnership with the Volunteer Centre in whatever ways it can to help encourage more people to support the local community through volunteering.
