Leading & Learning Together

09 September 2010

Employer Supported Volunteering, as a concept and as a framework for action has made leaps and bounds over the past years due to 1) employers recognising the opportunity that exists in engaging staff with the community whilst simultaneously providing a rich context for staff skills and personal development and 2) due to community organisations engaging with employers and building the capacity to facilitate employee volunteering.

Learning & Leading Together 2010 was an opportunity to build on this innovation. The agenda designed to provide a space where partners could showcase programme level and project level innovation in employer supported volunteering. This builds on rich exchanges which took place at Leading & Learning Together 2005, the many useful learnings of which have helped the Time & Talents Partnership and employer supported volunteering in general grow and develop over the past few years.

Learning leading Together

Attended by key ESV leaders in Westminster, the programme & project presentations were interspersed with group discussions. Headline presentations were:
  • Barclays: Aligning ESV to the business, Barclays Money Skills
  • Westminster City Council: Addressing local needs strategically
  • PwC: Staff-led projects, PwC's London Champions programme
  • Community Housing Association: Enhancing service provision through employee volunteers
  • Time & Talents for Westminster: Using the Time & Talents for Westminster website as a space for sharing and dialogue across the partnership
